Retin-A

Retin-AThere are various treatments used to erase visible signs of aging skin. Retin-A is one of the most commonly recommended skin care products for older patients who desire to even out skin that may have become blotchy or discolored by sun damage as well as to erase fine lines and wrinkles that have developed over time. Retin-A works by thinning the skin's outerlayer and results in a smoother, more even appearance. Retin-A is also often prescribed in order to fully prepare the skin for chemical peels. Evening out the top layer of skin before the peel, assists in achieving optimal results as the acid solution used will have more even penetration. Retin-A is not recommended for nursing or pregnant mothers due to the fact that its effects are still being researched on the fetus as well as nursing infants.

Renova

RenovaRenova, a skin care product that Dr. Choucair endorses for the treatment of acne and other skin conditions in need of some form of rejuvenation, is a variation of the original Retin A products. Both are effective in "reconditioning" the skin by mild exfoliation, however, some may find that using Renova may be less irritating to the skin due to it's emollient qualities which Retin A does not contain.
